Preparation
- Clean and assemble models.
- Glue sand to the tops of the bases.
- Spray with black paint.
- Use thinned down black paint to fill in any parts the spray missed.
Blue (armour)
- Start with a basecoat of Necron Abyss.
- Then liberally highlight with Regal Blue. Be sure to cover all edges while doing this. I covered abut a third of the blue armour in this stage.
- Carefully pick out all the edges with Ultramarines Blue.
- Pick out the most pronounced edges with Space Wolves Grey.
- Wash all over the blue areas with Asurmen Blue.
Crimson (armour, purity seals, lenses, squad/chapter markings)
- Start with a basecoat of Mechrite Red.
- Carefully pick out the edges with Blood Red.
- Pick out the raised edges with Fiery Orange.
- Make very small highlights with Bleached Bone
- Wash with Baal Red
Khaki (cloth, leather, parchment)
- Basecoat with Khemri Brown.
- Highlight with Kommando Khaki, leaving the previous colour only in the recesses.
- Make small highlights with Bleached bone.
- Wash with Delvan Mud.
Black (weapon casings, hair)
- Basecoat with Chaos Black.
- Liberally highlight with Adeptus Battlegrey.
- Carefully pick out the edges with Codex Grey.
- Pick out raised edges with Fortress Grey.
- Wash with Badab Black.
Metal (weapons, chest eagle, decorative elements)
- Basecoat with Boltgun Metal.
- Liberally highlight with Chainmail
- Pick out raised edges and wing tips with Mithral Silver
- Wash with Badab Black.
- Lightly Drybrush blades with Mithral Silver
Flesh (uh, duh?)
- Basecoat with Dark Flesh
- Highlight with Tarllan Flesh, leaving the previous colour only visible in the recesses.
- Make small highlights with Elf Flesh, focusing on nose, eyebrow ridges etc.
- Make tiny highlights with Bleached Bone.
- Wash with Ogryn Flesh.
Brown (hair)
- Basecoat with Scorched Brown.
- Overbrush with Bestial Brown.
- Highlight with Bleached Bone.
- Wash with Delvan Mud.
Bases
- Paint the top of the base with Chaos Black if necessary.
- Drybrush the top of the base with Codex Grey.
- Drybrush the outside of the top of the base with Skull White.
- Paint the rim of the base with Scorched Brown.
- Now spray the model with varnish.

im doin a sm chapter myself there paint scheme is the opposite 2 crimson fists (red as base colour etc…) and this has been very usful so thumbs up from me :0)

Used this walk through to do a few Crimson fists squads, and can I say AWESOME! Really great advice and can’t thank you enough for putting this up online.the Crimson fists I’ve done, using the technique above are the ebst space marines, possibly best 40K models I’ve done so far.
